On Wednesday, September 30th, 2020, starting at 07:30 a.m CEST, and continuing until 07:40 a.m CEST (10 minutes), Mashme will be performing a service update to deploy a new version on the cloud service.
> IMPACT: Limited
> URGENCY: Medium
> CHANGE TYPE: Standard
> CHANGE REASON: Upgrade
> CHANGE RISK: Low
During this time, some components will not be available so all users will experience service interruptions.
> From this release on, remote presenters must be declared at the room level, as explained in the release notes. Please, remind this change when preparing the sessions and rooms and remember that changes on the remote presenters can even be done while the session is in progress.
> The product documentation will be updated with all the new features.
This action will bring new features and improvements to the mashme platform:
:: ROOM SETTINGS - ROLE MANAGEMENT - REMOTE PRESENTER ::
> Session managers will be able to declare who are going to be the remote presenters in each room.
> There will be no limitation on the number of remote presenters on a room.
> Changes in remote presenters will be applied in real-time, even while a session is in progress.
> Remote presenters will receive a specific email invitation, different from the standard invitation.
> The information about who are the remote presenters will be available at the room and session-level.
:: REMOTE PRESENTER - ROOM CHAT MANAGEMENT ::
> Remote presenters will be able to manage the main chat, just like the presenters.
> 1:1 private chat channels between participants and presenters will be managed by the presenter and all remote presenters.
:: ROOM CONTENTS - PERMISSION SCHEME ::
> Any asset uploaded to a room will be shared between the presenter, all remote presenters, and the assistant even while they remain "not visible".
>> Before 3.9, any asset is private for the owner and only visible for other users when changed to "visible"
"Not visible" then will mean that all roles with no management permissions will not see those assets.
> With this new permission scheme, presenters (on-site or remotes) can collaborate together.
>> Remote presenter A can create a poll and remote presenter B can launch it.
>> Remote presenter A can prepare content that can be presented by remote presenter B.
>> Remote presenter A can change the visibility of assets uploaded by remote presenter B.
>> Remote presenter A can review contents uploaded by remote presenter B
>> The same examples will apply for the remote presenter and presenter or the assistant.
:: SESSION DYNAMICS - BETTER COLLABORATION OPTIONS ::
> Since a session may now have a presenter and many remote presenters at the same time, deeper and better collaboration options must be present in session dynamics:
>> Screen sharing, any presenter (on-site, remotes) can start sharing the screen and:
>>> Other presenters (on-site, remotes) can stop it at any time
>>> All participants will be able to identify who is sharing the screen at any time
> Polls, any presenter (on-site, remotes) can start a poll and:
>> All participants will see that a poll is "in progress"
>> Other presenters (on-site, remotes) can close it at any time
>> Since it is an asset uploaded to the room, it will be shared between all presenters and assistants even when "not visible".
>> Remote presenters, presenter, and assistants can not participate in polls
> Other room dynamics:
>> The same collaboration methods will be available.
:: SPLIT ROOMS ::
> The maximum number of participants on a split room will now be 15, to ensure a good experience during the split room.
> A warning will be displayed when more than 7 participants are selected for split rooms.
:: ROOM AND SESSION MANAGEMENT ::
> Improved creation and edition screens with a new layout.
> Consistent and improved view of session details (including a visual flag for past session, in progress and future).
:: BUGFIXING ::
> Several fixes for reported bugs.
We will provide an update when we begin and complete the service update.
We appreciate your patience and understanding. As always, if you have questions or issues, please submit them at firstname.lastname@example.org
